Training

At ANAV, we attach particular importance to the education and on-going training of all our personnel, as well as to ensure that contractor companies’ employees also contribute with high qualification levels.

Most of this training has been designed with the aim of delving deeper into the Safety Culture at ANAV’s plants. For this reason, nearly 75% of the hours spent on training every year are on safety-related topics. In 2016, ANAV’s and the contractor companies’ personnel spent 30,405 hours in training, and a total of 4,103 training activities took place.

A key area is the training of control room operators and Radiological Protection managers, who must pass the Spanish Regulator’s assessment exams in order to obtain and maintain the licenses required to operate the plant.

This training programme includes practice sessions in a Control Room Simulator, where the operators can exercise both normal situations as well as unusual or extremely hypothetical situations.

The estimated training time for a control room reactor operator is three years.
